How to use the Personality Quiz module

How to use the Personality Quiz module

Turn a set of choices into a result people recognize, enjoy, and want to share.

Contents

What you can use it for

A Personality Quiz gives audiences a low-friction reason to engage with a brand, creator, exhibition, campaign, or educational idea. Instead of presenting every message at once, it asks a short series of relatable questions and returns a result written in the participant's language.

It can support community sharing, introduce a serious topic through familiar situations, collect interest before a launch, or make specialist knowledge easier to approach. A strong quiz does not promise a guaranteed marketing outcome; it gives people a meaningful result that is worth reading and sharing.

What it looks like

Published examples include Miranda's dessert-personality project for an illustrator community, Heart of Taiwan Animal Care's New Year public-interest quiz, and the Chinese Language Center's “Text Temperature” project. Use them as editorial references, not performance guarantees.

How it works

Questions and choices

Each question presents a situation and a set of answers. Keep each choice distinct enough that a player can decide without guessing what the author meant.

Question order

Use the question list to arrange the order that players follow.

Result list

Create every possible personalized result in advance. Each result needs a title, description, and a result page that works by itself.

Result content

Edit the title and content for every result so that each result page is complete on its own.

Result cover

Set a cover for every result and check its preview before publishing.

Choice-to-result mapping

The mapping connects each choice to one or more result labels. This is the scoring logic of the quiz: the selected answers accumulate toward the mapped results, and the final result is chosen from that mapping. Preview several different answer paths to make sure one result does not dominate by accident.

The player opens the quiz, answers the same question sequence, receives one mapped result, and can then read or share its result page.

How to get started

  1. Define the audience and one clear quiz promise.
  2. Draft three to six meaningfully different results before writing questions.
  3. Write questions about observable situations rather than abstract self-judgment.
  4. Map every choice to the intended result labels.
  5. Preview multiple paths, including deliberately extreme and mixed answers.
  6. Check every result page on mobile and make the share copy understandable out of context.

For editorial inspiration, see the English case studies available in the blog. Case-study results are not guarantees for a new project.

FAQ

How many results should I create? Use enough to make the differences meaningful, but few enough that every result can be written and tested carefully.

Is this a scored knowledge test? No. Use the Scored Quiz module when numeric scores and score ranges are the real outcome.

Can one choice relate to more than one trait? Yes, depending on the result format. Check the mapping for every choice and preview the combinations.
