How to use the Branch Quiz module

How to use the Branch Quiz module

Let each choice lead to a different question or ending, turning a simple questionnaire into an experience that genuinely changes direction.

Contents

What you can use it for

A Branch Quiz is useful when different participants need different follow-up questions. Registration, product recommendations, guided tours, and interactive stories can all begin with one clear choice and then send each person only to relevant content. A route may continue to another question or go directly to a result.

This is especially effective when a single decision matters more than a total score. For example, a city-walk guide can ask whether someone wants a quiet or lively outing, then ask only the quiet group whether they prefer a bookshop or a park. A brand tour can ask what visitors care about first and route them to materials, use cases, or event details.

What it looks like

The flow workspace places questions and results on one canvas. Connecting lines make every destination visible before publication.

Select a question to set the destination for each choice. A choice can point to another question or to a prepared result.

How it works

Prepare the destinations first

Create the results that will receive participants at the end of each route. A result is authored content, not an automatically calculated score.

Connect every choice

In the answer flow, open a question and set a destination for each choice. Start with a simple map: one starting question, one optional follow-up, and two distinct results.

Check the second question as carefully as the first. Every choice needs a valid destination, and every route needs an ending.

How to get started

  1. Write two clearly different results, including what the participant should do next.
  2. Add a first question whose choices can immediately separate the routes.
  3. Add another question only where more information is genuinely needed.
  4. Set the destination of every choice in the flow workspace.
  5. Preview both the shortest and longest routes and check for dead ends or loops.
  6. Ask someone who has not seen your flowchart to play through it once.

FAQ

Does every choice need a different destination? No. Routes may split and later return to the same question or result.

Can a choice show a result immediately? Yes. Select a result as that choice's destination.

How do I keep the flow manageable? Begin with two routes and two results. Preview each new route as soon as you add it.

How is this different from a standard personality quiz? A standard quiz normally shows everyone the same questions and maps answers to results. A Branch Quiz changes which question appears next.
