Which of The Pilcrows are you most like?

Navigating a burnt out, unpredictable world as a designer is tough, but to understand why we design, we first have to know who we are. Which creative designer archetype are you most like? Take this quiz to find out!

Which creative designer archetype are you most like?

It’s 2044, the end of the world — or, well, the arts world, at least. Everyone&#39;s burnt out from running the ferris wheel of endless work.

There’s gotta be something we can do. I’ll come up with a better plan.

It’s been a strange day - I let him let it all out. Then I’ll try and cheer him up.

*We* aren’t gone, aren’t we? If we can find each other, they can find us.

It’s been barely a day. Let’s just find shelter for the night and try again tomorrow.

Night falls, and the warm safety of the sunset is washed away with cold, blue moonlight.

The other designer's really panicking.

You’re overthinking this and stressing yourself out.

You got carried away by your whims, and now you have too many ideas going on at once.

You need to come back down to earth - no one can read your mind.

You were too decisive (okay, impulsive) and bit off more than you could chew.

But before you can do anything, the sign starts to glow with a strange, yet comforting warmth.

Then, you see it - in the sky - The Pilcrows’ emblem.

Not planning for failure/mistakes is the real waste of time.

It’s the end of the world. There has never been more time.

Well, there it is - your “OBJECTIVE”.

Design a sign that will alert The Pilcrows to your existence, so that you may find each other.

You nearly jump out of your skin.

Behind you, a figure is carrying a sign of his own. Guess you weren’t alone after all.

It’s another designer, here to tell you where you went wrong.

Honestly, I’d probably focus and do a better job alone...

If he wasn’t going to ask, I would’ve suggested it too.

I don’t mind, but I wonder if our artistic visions would clash.

Why not? It’ll save time, and really, it just needs to work well enough.

“Good catch,” he says. He seems pleased you returned the favour.
He proposes collaborating to make better designs, instead of trying to figure it all out by yourself.

How do you feel about it?

Give him a detailed analysis of what could be fixed.

Cut straight to the bone and give him a real thinker of a question.

Remind him of the target audience’s needs.

You look over at his sign, and can’t help but notice some issues in his work as well. 

How do you tell him?

I can push through it, I’m almost done. I won’t allow myself to get distracted.

Maybe I’ll take a quick snack break. I’ll work better when I’m well rested!

You can’t rush inspiration. I’ll take a break and come back to it with fresh eyes.

You begin the work creating a beautiful sign. However, the task proves to be much harder than you thought, and you’re getting tired.

I just need one more tweak and it’ll be perfect.

I’ve done what I can, It’s time to put it up.

You wake up in total darkness. Something heavy is weighing on you.

A gust of wind stirs the silence.
You look up.
Against the clouds, it’s hard to make out, but it almost looks like there are flocks of birds gliding across.

The air is still, but it thrums with a certain energy.

What else is there to care about?
Nothing to earn, no time and money to spend it on, and no one to print the tickets for entry into amusement.

And yet, and yet... something stubborn in you calls you to keep creating.

Why don't you wake up already?

Hmm…I really should do that more often, but this is more fun!

Whatever, I can just wing it and learn as I go.

You don’t remember anything - except that you’re a surviving design student and you’ve arrived in the last known city where designers dwell.

The only disturbance you see is your own dusty footsteps.

“Good for you,” he says. “I don’t know what to expect. I’ve spent so much time narrowly escaping disaster it’s really weird to feel hopeful for once. But at least I’m not alone,”
